What is phishing?

Phishing is a form of social engineering in which attackers use fraudulent emails, messages, websites, or other communications to trick individuals into disclosing sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords, or financial information, or into installing malicious software. To protect yourself from phishing attacks, always verify the legitimacy of emails, messages, and websites before taking any action. Carefully review the sender's email address and confirm that it matches the legitimate domain of the organization it claims to represent. Be cautious of spelling or grammatical errors, unexpected attachments, suspicious links, requests for confidential information, or messages that create a false sense of urgency or threaten negative consequences if immediate action is not taken. When visiting websites, ensure that the connection is secure by verifying the presence of "https://" and the lock icon in your browser's address bar. However, remember that a secure connection alone does not guarantee that a website is legitimate, so you should also confirm that the website address belongs to the organization you intend to visit. Never click on suspicious links or open unexpected attachments. If you are unsure whether a communication is legitimate, contact the organization directly through an official channel before responding. Please note that Utoppia will never ask you to disclose your password, one-time passcodes (OTPs), authentication codes, or other account security credentials.
