What is an interest-bearing USD account?

It's a dollar account that generates daily interest through the FDIC Bank Sweep, preserving capital and immediate liquidity. You can get more information by clicking HERE.

Where is my money invested?

Your investments and funds are held in custody by Alpaca Securities LLC, a registered U.S. broker-dealer, member of FINRA and SIPC.Actually we offer the Alpaca FDIC Bank Sweep Program as a sweep investment option for available cash balances in your brokerage account.

What types of risks are associated with this account?

Depositing in the investment account involves investing in the financial market. This means that such an investment implies inherent risks for which Utoppia cannot be held responsible for any variations in the interest rates or returns provided.

Who can open an account?

Any individual of legal age (18+), who lives in the following available countries: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Australia, New Zealand, India, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

How are taxes on the generated interests handled?

Your interests are not subject to US tax withholding. It is the responsibility of each client to declare taxes in their country. Tax obligations vary by jurisdiction, and it is advisable to consult a tax advisor to understand the tax implications.

How do I close my investments account?

You can close your investment account going to your Profile, selecting Utoppia Plus, and then choosing the option to cancel your subscription.

What is my annual rate?

The annual rate varies and you will be able to see it posted in the app in the investments section.

How and when are returns calculated and credited?

They are calculated daily and credited on the fifth business day of each month.

How can I monitor my performance?

You can monitor your performance, updated balance and accrued interest from the app. In order to access monthly/annual reports, you can contact our Customer Support channels.

Is there a fee for having the Plus plan active?

Having an investment account under the Plus program has a monthly fee of 5.99 USD, which also includes more benefits like free ACH same day and priority in our customer support channel.

How is my Plus fee debited?

The fee will be automatically debited from your Utoppia USD regular account. In case you don’t count with funds in the account, the funds will be debited from your investments account.

How long does deposits and withdrawals take?

Deposits and withdrawals can take 1 to 2 business days.

Can I deposit and withdraw whenever I want?

Yes, and they are unlimited. Note that all deposits and withdrawals will be processed on business days.
